DUNEDIN, Oct. 12 An official statement on Church Union, released bv the Assembly of the Congregational Union of New Zealand states: “It was reported to the Assembly of the Congregational Union of New Zealand, at Dunedin, that the decision of the Churches on the proposed basis of union had resulted in an equal number of the churches being for and against the basis. Besides these, two churches were in favour of a basis with amendments, while one church had not yet coted. “In accordance with Congregational principles, voting was effected by church meetings of the constituent churches. The assembly has decided to re-appoint the Church Union Committee, with instructions to review and study the decisions of the churches, and to continue the discussions with representatives of the Presbyterian and Methodist Churches and to report to the nex.t Assembly.
