Housing Scheme for Marlborough Street Area

Under the State housing programme, work will be concentrated on the Marlborough Street area next year. Tenders are now being called for the first units. Of the ten State houses completed at Cobden lately two were made available for allocation in September, and it is expected that six others will be completed in November. Other units will be ready early next year. Apart from these units, three more housing sites remain in the Holland Settlement block, and arrangements are being made for erection of buildings. Unless more laud can be acquired in the Cobden area, where the first State housing scheme was started on the West Coast, the present project is expected to end next year.
