Australian with Jap Wife Held Prisoner on Ship

AUCKLAND,. October 11. A young Australian, a veteran of the New Guinea campaign, who was sent back to Australia for discharge and three times eluded the civil authorities by escaping to Japan, arrived in the troopship Westralia, _ from Japan to-day and is being held in gaol until the ship resumes her voyage to Australia.

The men is Frank Lloyd Weaver, who wants to return to his Japanese wife, whom he married in a Shinto temple. After his last return by air to Japan, he eluded the military police, and, during a wide search shots were fired. Weaver’s wife, who is living in Kure, with her two young sisters, is said to have a large sum of money in Japanese yen and foreign currency.
