Persian Quake’s Heavy Toll

(Rec. 1.0). LONDON, October 11. The death roll in the PersianSoviet frontier earthquake rose with a report of a further 200 killed in the Persian town of Dereges, says Reuter, quoting the Moscow radio. Earlier press reports from Teheran said that 200 were killed in Meshed. The death roll in Askhabad, the capital of the Turkmenian Soviet republic, where 6000 injured were evacuated by air, was not announced.
