MILLERTON NOTES
(Our Own Correspondent). A Women’s bowling club was formed at Millerton during the week, oincers elected were: —President, Mrs Jackson, secretary, Mrs F. Fox; treasurer, Mrs Young; match committee, Mesdames Fox, laylor, Jackson. The opening day is to be held on October 23. Visiting players are expected from other women’s clubs. A friendly soccer game was played on the Millerton Domain between Stockton and Millerton teams, the latter winning by 4 goals to 2. When Millerton Community Centre held a social evening in the Community Hall, there was an excellent attendance. Dancing ana games were enjoyed Cakes and sandwiches were served by the ladies and tea committee. Mrs F. Boswell provided the music. It is the intention of the committee to hold these gatherings regularly, and everybody is invited. Mr W. Watson, local miners’ union delegate, attended a meeting of the Buller Central Committee in Westport on Saturday also Mr G. Orman (national delegate). Mr B. Delamore, of Mokihinui, is visiting Millerton. Mrs A. McCallum returned last week after visiting Christchurch. Hon. W. H. Mclntyre has returned from Wellington and Nelson.
