Captured Prisoners Appear in Court
HAMILTON, Oct. 7. Arrested at Pironga by the Te Awamutu police last night after they had been held at the point of a shotgun for 40 minutes, two prisoners, James Daniel Pease, aged 28, and Peter Seaton Young, aged 23, who escaped from Mount Eden jail last week appeared before Mr S. L. Paterson, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court, at Hamilton to-day. The accused, who were handcuffed together, were charged with breaking and entering W. H. Bell and Company’s store at Pironga, with intent to commit a crime. Young was wearing neither . shoes nor socks, while Pease was in his stockinged feet. Senior-Sergeant R. J. Sutherland asked for a remand to Auckland on October 14. He said further charges were pending. The remand was granted.
