GOLF N.Z. Players in Australian Championships

(Rec. 9.0) MELBOURNE, Oct. 10. R. S. Brown and D. Bachli won the Australian golf foursomes championship yesterday with rounds of 69 and 76. B. KL Siik and R. H. Gladmg were the most successful New Zealand pair. They had rounds of 77 and 74 and finished in fourth place, one stroke ahead of Hornabrook and Woon (N.Z.) 76 and 77. Roberts, the New Zealand team manager, partnered by Alex Russell, the former Australian open champion, was well back in the field with rounds of 84 and 85. Rain spoilt the afternoon rounds when Siik and Glading returned 74. This equalled the best round in the afternoon. FERRIER IN FORM Jim Ferrier, overwhelmed the Australian open champion, H. Pickworth, ten and nine, on the Huntingdale Club’s course in their second 72-hole challenge match. Pickworth won the first match last week on the 73rd hole. Despite- a brilliant recovery when he reached the turn in three under par, Pickworth failed to overhaul Ferrier’s long lead.
