Freezing Workers and National Service
CHRISTCHURCH, Oct. 11 An immediate conference of the Federation of Labour to discuss conscription ,to which the council was opposed, was called for in a resolution carried uanimously at a meeting in Wellington last week of the national council of the New , z '£ a J a , ad Freezing Works and Related Trades Industrial Association of Workers. _ The resolution was as follows. “That we implement our previous resolutions by pfiblicly stating our opposition' to conscription, and that we instruct all our delegates to district trade councils to press, for the immediate calling of a special co inference of the Federation of Labou to discuss conscription. Further, that we wholeheartedly endorse theresolution published by the New Zealand Waterside Workers Union on bep’tember 24, 1948.”
