BOXING

LONDON, Oct. 9 Boxing circles talking about the possibility of a fight between Marcel Cerdan, who recently won the world middle-weight titel from the American Tonny Zale, and Dick Turpin. Cerdan has been approached by the English promoter, Jack Solomons, and there are suggestions that the fight might take place at Harringay in November. Much will depend, on whether Turpin can beat Jean Stock, who is rated second to Cerdan in France, and whom he will meet at the Albert Hall on October 18. It was Turpin, of course, who put “paid” to Bos Murphy’s account over here. He is regarded as a top-flight fighter and a bout with Cerdan would be a big draw.
