Australian Press Critics of Wheat Agreemen With New Zealand
CANBERRA, Oct. 6
Newspaper correspondents here say that while the Federal Government has dropped subsidies in Australia to maintain controLof prices, it is paying a heavy subsidy on bread in New Zealand. They state that for the first two years of its operation the Australian wheat sale agreement with New Zealand has cost Australian taxpayers £3,569,000. Despite the favourable adjustment lately made, it is expected to cost another £1,500,000 in the current year and by the end of the third year, Australia is expected to have pajd a total of. £5,000,000.
