M.P. Questions Minister’s Statement On Transport

P.A. WELLINGTON, October 6.

At question time in the House of Representatives to-day, Mr. J. T. Watts (Nat., St. Albans), gave notice to ask the acting-Prime Minister i» the Government’s attention had been drawn to a statement of the Hon. F. Hackett, reported in to-day’s papers to the effect that the Government had no intention of socialising the transport industry. He asked if the Government would make a categorical statement as to whether it had renounced its policy of socialisation of the means of distribution, and substituted, therefore, as its primary object, the retention of office.
