Farmer Attacked By Wild Boar

BLENHEIM, Oct. 4. Caught by the charge of a wild boar, during mustering operations on Wharanui station during the weekend, Peter Murray, son of the station owner, Leicester Murray, suffered injuries necessitating his removal to hospital. Accompanied by the head shepherd, A. Manning, Murray was two miles in the back country when a mob of pigs was encountered. A large boar “treed” Manning. Murray was unable to find anything more substantial than a small ngaio tree. He could not reach safety before the boar charged and ripped him in the right shin and thigh. Murray’s condition was to-day reported as satisfactory.
