Amalgamation of Tahimanui with Nelson Recommended

P.A. NELSON, October 1. Being convinced that the Tahunanui town district was essentially part of Nelson City, and that single control would be to the mutual advantage of both areas, the Local Government Commission, which held a public enquiry into local body boundaries in Nelson on August 3, found in favour of the amalgamation of Tahunanui with the city, subject to certain conditions regarding revaluations, the consolidation of special rates, and a. drainage scheme for the town district. The commission was unable to agree to the inclusion of the major portion of Stoke riding in the city, holding that Stoke was not a “spill-over” from Nelson.
