Sydney Taxi Catches Criminal

SYDNEY, October 1.

Seeing a man attacking a woman on the -footpath of a Darlinghyrst street, a taxi-driver chased him in his vehicle and deliberately ran him down.

The man was not seriously .injured and was over-powered by the taxidriver and another man after a struggle. The woman had finished hei’ work as an office cleaner and was walking home when she heard a man following her. Suddenly he caught up with her, seized her and threw her screaming on to the pavement. When the taxi-driver turned his lights on the pavement, the man ran away. The taxi followed him down two streets and then ran oyer him, pinning him down. After being subdued, he was handed over to the oolice and was later charged with assault.

The police have been investigating several recent assaults on women in the area.
