CROWDED COURT SEES YOUTH CHARGED WITH CRANSTON MURDER
P.A. WELLINGTON, October 1. Charged with the murder of Mrs. Katherine Cranston at Wellington on September 26, Edward Raymond Horton, aged 20, a blacksmith’s striker, appeared in the Magistrate’s Court this morning. The accused had been charged in the Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday with being idle and disorderly and had been remanded in custody until October 4.
Chief Detective E. H. Compton, who appeared for the police to-day, asked for a remand on the murder charge until the same date, October 4, and this was granted by the Magistrate, Mr. A. A. McLachlan. The Court was packed. There was a loud murmur when the charge was read and this was silenced by a Court orderly.
