THE POPE’S ADVICE TO YOUNG WOMEN

ROME, Sept. 29.

Pope Pius XII addressed an Association for the Protection of Young Women. He said that ignorance, inexperience, frivolity and excessive fashions caused the downfall of many modern young women. The modern girl, His Holiness said, often had a masculine mentality. She had the illusion of experience and she bel’eved herself, on her own authority, superior to the young women of past generations. Though often more informed, she was in reality less solidly instructed and her experience was not sufficient to guard her against roguery, hypocrisy and seducers. She believed herself able with impunity to read everything, try everything and taste everything —she was disarmed before the peril.
