CALL TO DESTROY INFLUENCE OF COMMUNISTS

By Australian Labour Party Conference (Received September 30, 11.25 p.m.) CANBERRA, September 30.

The Federal Conference of the Australian Labour Party to-day defined its attitude towards Communism. After it had turned down a Queensland resolution urging that the Communist Party should be banned as an illegal organisation. At the same time the conference passed a resolution which makes it clear that the Australian Laboui Party repudiates the methods and the principles of Communism.

The resolution declared that the Communist Party methods ana objects are aimed at the, destruction of the Australian democratic way of life, and at the substitution of a totalitarian form of government. The conference called upon, the Labour Movement for a campaign to destroy the influence of the Communist Party in Australia.

As part of that campaign, it asked the Federal Executive ot tne Australian Labour Party to issue a manifesto reveauag the workings and the policy oi the Communist Farcy.
