R.S.A. PURCHASES FLATS FOR NEW CLUB PREMISES
The Westland Land Sales Committee has approved a reduction from £3500 to 13000 for the purchase by the Greymouth R.S.A. of Guinness House, Tainui Street, for use as club rooms. The vendor of the twostorey wooden building, formerly the home of Sir Arthur Guinness, was Mrs R. Boddy. There are at present five flats occupied in the building and considerable alterations will be required to convert it into club premises. The secretary of the R.S.A., Mr T. P. Ryan, stated yesterday that no decision has yet been reached as to whether an immediate start will be made with the reconstruction of the building or whether the present occupants of the five flats will be permitted to remain until a later date. The future of the property is to be d’scussed at the next meeting of the R.S.A. executive committee.
