Greek Guerrillas Stage Attack
ATHENS, September 20.
Greek Guerrillas, supported by artillery fire, are reported to be' strongly attacking Kastor;a, headquarters for Greek Army operations against the Guerrilla stronghold in the Vitsi mountains.
Albanian Backing for Guerrillas Router’s. Paris correspondent says Britain, France and the United Stales have protested to Albania against/the “toleration’ shown Greek guerrillas on Albanian territory. A French communique says that although Albania claimed to have d;S; armed and interned a number oi guerrillas, it was clear from the. observations of the United Nations special commission on the Balkans that the number of Guerrillas withdrawing into Albania was much higher than Albania claimed to have disarmed and interned. The number must be at. least 5000. Numerous Guerrillas have again penetrated into Greece from Albania. France, America and Britain, to end the attitude adopted by Albania towards the guerrillas, asked her to give tlw United Nations .Balkans Commission power to exercise _ the same control on Albanian territory as in Greece.
MORE GUERRILLA RAIDS (Rec. 11.40) LONDON, Sept. 21. Reuter’s correspondent at Athens savs: “The Greek Government troops have beaten off four brigades .of guerrillas who attacked Kastoria, says the general staff in a communique. “The guerrillas left nearly 400 dead on the battlefield.” The communique adds: “Guerrillas stormed the railway between Patras and Piraeus, and raided Government workshops in Thessaly.”
