GREY RUGBY TEAMS BEATEN
Stars, the Greymouth senior champions, and Blaketown. both suffered defeat in the Buller district on Sunday. Ngakawau, after being equal at half time, beat Stars by 12 points to 9 in a fast game at Ngakawau. Ngakawau kiciced two penalty goals, while B. Hayton and R. Goodwin scored unconverted tries for Star in the first half. Two tries by Ngakawau gave this side, which was third in this year’s Buller’s competition, a lead which was not overtaken until the final stages when L. McDougall kicked a goal from a penalty. Both teams were below full strength. Blaketown extended Granity Rovers, the Buller champions, who managed to score eight points, both tries being breakaways and one being converted. _____
