COMMUNIST LINE IN BRITAIN IS AGAINST LABOUR GOVERNMENT
LONDON, Sept. 19. The Communist Party has issued a statement demanding working class action to defeat the. Labour Government’s “defence of monopolists interest.” It urged an offensive foi higher wages, increased pensions and unemployment benefits, the abolition of purchase taxes on food, an mcreas ed profits tax and an immediate capital levy. , , . The statement also demanded increased housing and social services, a speed-up of demobilisation, friendship with Russia and the end of dependence on the United States. “The British people face a grave situation with war preparations and the speed up in the expansion of the armed forces,” the statement says. “It is for this policy that an all-out offensive has been opened against tne living standards of the British working class.”
