HAMILTON (Bermuda), Sept. 19

A New Zealander, Ronald Hutson, a fireman on the ill-fated British freighter “Leicester,” took over the emergency radio duty, and kept sending out S.O’S. messages throughout last Wednesday after the radio operator and the third engineer had been lost in an overturned boat from the “Leicester.” Survivors related this to-day, when they landed here from the rescue vessel, “Cecil N. Bean.” Hutson wa.i one of the last to be rescued. Several men were washed off the ship. Others were lost during rescue operations. Three men were taken by sharks when trying to transfer to the rescue ships.
