The Dunedin City Council proposes to construct two new sub-stations as an extension of its electrical generating plant at Waipori. The new stations would be in production by 1954, and would afford nearly 110,000 kilowatts. The cost would exceed £720,000 and 'the requisite loan would entail a rate of 9id.

Hones for the departure from Auckland for Wellington to-day of the New Zealand four-masted barque “Pamir,” were raised yesterday afternoon when the wind veered to the south. If the wind remains fair this morning, the barque will be towed from the stream by a tug, and will begin her voyage outside Rangitoto. The barque has waited for a favourable wind since Monday of last week. She is expected to reach Wellington in a week or a fortnight, depending on the conditions off the coast. —P.A.

To play the Auckland League champions, Marist, at Carlaw Park on Saturday, the Runanga Rugby League Club’s senior team leaves by this morning’s express. They play at Huntly on Sunday and leave Auckland on return next Thursday. Mr N. Griffiths will manage the team, assisted by Messrs J. Clelland and D. Darby. Also travelling on this morning’s express will be the Otahuhu third grade team which visited the West Coast during the week-end. Yesterday they made a trip to Westport.
