Decision Reserved in Gift Duty Case

P.A. WELLINGTON, Sept. 17. The hearing of the appeal by the trustees of the estate of Edwin Thomas Taylor, formerly a wine and spirit merchant, of • Wellington, against the payment of gift duty on prize • money of £lO,OOO won in an overseas consultation, was continued in the Court of Appeal to-day. The appeal was against the decision of Mr Justice Christie, Who held that gift duty had been rightly assessed. After hearing legal argument, the Court reserved its decision.
