Jersey Calves Travel by Air
HAMILTON, Sept. 14. A consignment of 25 Jersey calves, daughter of proved dairy sires with a high butter-fat backing, is to be sent by air from Rukuhia airport by the Ruakura Animal Research Station to the experimental farm of the Department of Agriculture at Winchmore, Canterbury. Experimental work in irrigation is beeng carried on at Winchmore, and the object of sending the calves is to' test the producing ability of young Jersey stock in the South Island when subject to dairying conditions brought about by irrigation.
