Auckland Carpenters Re-elect Officers After Campaign

AUCKLAND, Sept. 15. By a two-to-one majority Mr D. McEwen (secretary) and Mr J. R. French (organiser) were re-elected at the annual meeting last night of the Auckland branch of the New Zealand Carpenters and Joiners’ Union.. The meeting was largest in the history of the union, and it was the climax of a campaign which has been carried out for some months by a. group who, stated the union today, had advocated a co-operative spirit towards the employers, and had objected to Communists being in leading positions in the union. The representatives of the moderates said to-day, that they were quite satisfied with the support which they had received
