PAPER COMES OUT WITHOUT LINOTYPES

(Rec. 10.40). NEW YORK, Sept. 14. The “Journal of Commerce”, a business daily, whose linotype operators are. on strike, says that it is being printed by a new method. This is one whereby the journalists typeset their own stories at electronic keyboards. The management said that the new devices were bought when negotiations with the International Typographical Union broke down. The type-setting process permits the direct printing of the paper in contrast with the photo-engraving method.
