At the Opera House Finally to-night: "Nocturne” and "Heaven is Round the Corner.” Commencing to-morrow: "Johnny O’Clock.” "JOHNNY O’CLOCK” Crammed with mystery, suspense, feverish excitement and some of the most thrilling sequences ever brought to the screen are contained in the absorbing modern melodrama, "Johnny O’clock”, (the most fascinating character you have ever seen) commencing at the Opera House tomorrow with Dick Powfcll and, Evelyn Keyes in the starring roles. Tn the film, Dick Powell is seen as the swaggering gambler, Johnny O’clock, who matches wits with the gambling fraternity and the law in the oerson of Inspector Koch (Lee J. Cobb). Koch suspects Johnny and his gambling partner, Guido Marchettis (S. Thomas Gomez), of the deaths of Harriet Hobson (Nina Foch), a checkroom girl, and her boy friend. Chuck Blayden (Jim Bannon), a crooked cop. The dead girl’s sister, Nancy (Evelyn Keyes), comes to the scene lor details of the crime and falls for Johnny. That worthy attempts to get her out of town but is beset by Marchettis’ gunmen. Marchettis, learning that his wife, Nelle (Ellen Drew), is in love with Johnny, shoots and wounds him when the latter comes to the gambling house for a spht-up of the profits. From here on the film is whipped up to break-neck pace, exploding with such a surprise fl ™sh that it will all but wrench the theatre seats from their moorings as a result of the patrons’ excitement.

Regent Shows Commencing To-morrow: "This Time For Keeps.” M G.M.’s - sparkling techmcolour musical, "This Time for Keeps commences to-morrow (Friday) at the Regent Theatre, starring Esther Williams, Jimmy Durante, Launtz Melchior, Johnnie , Johnston and Xavier Cugat and his orchestra. It’s big. it’s romantic, its tuneful — but most of all, it’s howlingly funny, with Durante at his uproarious best in the role of an aquatic stars selfappointed guardian ever on the alert to keep the "wolves” away from the girl he adores. Johnnie Johnston is one “wolf” who slips by Durante’s keen nose straight into the arms of attractive Esther, but not until a few complications are out of the wayone of them being a society girl whom Melchoir, playing Johnnies opera-star father, has chosen as his son’s bride.
