St. John’s Annual Daffodil' Show
Entries iii" excess of those last year were received for St. John’s annual', (daffodil show, which was conducted in the church hall„ yesterday. The wealth of colour, and exotic blooms made an unforgettable picture. For the second year in succession, Mi’ W. J. Preston won the St. John’s Cup for the most points in the daffodil section. Pride of place in the flowering shrubs section was a rose peach blossom that won first prize for Mrs G. E. Harker. A new novelty section for the display of cut flowers was a feature of the’ show. Introduced for the first time, it attracted a dozen • exhibitors, and their blooms were displayed in a child’s gum boot, an electric light bulb, a tea pot, an arum lily, a gravy boat, cow’s horns, a cake dish and a child’s porridge dish. The general effect was delightful; In the children’s section, sand dishes, gracefully arranged, took the place of buttonholes, and the result was well worth the change. Mr W.
