GOLF N.Z. Team Wins Queensland Match
(Rec. 9.50). BRISBANE, Sept 15. At the Royal Queensland golf links to-day, the New Zealand open champion, Bob Glading, partnering Brian Silk, the N.Z. amateur champion, defeated Alex Colledge and Stan Keane, the leading Queenslanders, three ana two, in the first official foursomes match of the Australian cour. The New Zealand pair had a stroke round of 72 against their opponents’ 70. In the other foursome, a Queensland pair, Noel Weston and Roy White, equalised, as they defeated Hornabrook (former New Zealand onen champion), and Jim . Woon (South Island amateur champion) two and one. In the main match, Keane and Colledge were two up at the turn, Keane’s nutting being the mam factor in their outward score of 30. However, the visitors carded the next seven holes in 26—three under scratch. They came home m 35. The leading New Zealand pair turned on some spectacular golf. Both play unusually long irons. In the other match, Weston and White had a stroke round of 75. Tht standard scratch of the 6625 yards course is 74.

The New Zealand golf team won the' opening match of the Australian tour, defeating Queensland on the last green in the final singles game With I-fcrnabrook down to Weston 5 and 3; Woon up on White, and Silk squaring this match with Keane on the last green, Glading hit off the eighteenth tee one up on the Queensland number one player Colledge-, and squared the final hole.
