END OF MEAT RATIONING IN NEW ZEALAND

Coming Next Month P.A. WELLINGTON, Sept. 7. It is &xpected that the end of next month, will see meat removed from rationing in New Zealand. It is likely that, from November 1, only butter supplies will be rationed. No one in the Wellington meat business was prepared, to-day, to say definitely that meat would be derationed after the period of the present ration books. It is known, however, that leading representatives of the New’ Zealand butchery trade have recently been in Wellington for discussions on the matter. The Commission which recently investigated the meat trade reported in favour of the ending o f rationing, and this has been supported by Government members in the House of Representatives. BUTTER RATION MAY BE Boz. .It is not likely, however, that butter will be freed from rationing, though there have been suggestions that the weekly ration may be restored to eight ounces.
