Avondale Placings Are Reversed By District Committee P.A. AUCKLAND, Sept. 7. The Auckland District Racing Committee to-day upheld the appeal of J. M. Upfold. owner of The Fake, against the decision of the Avondale Jockey Club in awarding first place to Ostentatious in the Windsor Hurdles at Avondale on July 17. The appeal was on the grounds that Ostentatious had interfered with The Fake. The committee reversed the placings, The Fake being placed first, and Ostentatious second. The district committee, on August 3. referred the appeal back to the Avondale committee, and on Tuesday of last week the latter decided not to alter the placings. On July 24, the Avondalet committee suspended D. Mackipnon, the rider of Ostentatious, for two months for careless riding, having found that interference had occurred, which was caused or contributed to by Mackinnon.
