Wins Film Prize
•LONDON, September 5. Sir Laurence Olivier’s film, “Hamlet,” won the first prize at the International Film Festival, says the British United Press correspondent at Venice. Jean Simmons was judged the best actress for her portrayal of “Ophelia” in “Hamlet.” Britain also won the prizes for the best story and scrips. SECRECY OF ARRIVAL. P.A. AUCKLAND, September 6. The immediate destination ,of Sir Laurence Olivier and Lady Olivier when they arrive in Auckland to-day from Sydney is being kept secret. This'action, it is understood, has been taken as a result of experiences in Australia, where the famous actor and his wife were repeatedly embarrassed by public " enthusiasm. Sir Laurence Olivier and Lady Olivier will reach Whenuapai shortly after 11 a.m. in a specially chartered Skymaster air liner. About 40 other members of the Old Vic company wil arrive later in the day by Skymaster and a flying boat of the normal Tasman service.
