ARABS’ REFUSAL TO RECOGNISE JEWISH STATE

Leaders to Discuss Military Matters I . (Rec. 10.5) LONDON, Sept. 6 The Daily Telegraph’s special- correspondent at Alexandria, Egypt, says that the Prime Ministers and Foreign Ministers of the member States of the Arab League will attend a meeting this week of the League’s Political Committee, which will be devoted ex- . clusively to the Palestine question and the Arab States’ policy both in Palestine and at the United Nations. The United Nations’ mediator, Count Bernadotte, is expected shortly .to meet the Arab leaders while they are in Alexandria. The Arabs intend to maintain their refusal to recognise the Jewish State. The atmosphere at the Arab League headquarters is not optimistic for prospects of a peaceful solution in Palestine, and it is believed the major purpose of the meetings will be the military prepartion of the unification of 'command, and the purchase of reserves of war material to meet any resumption of hostilities. ,
