COATS VALUED AT £50 ARE RECOVERED
Robbery From Greymouth Shop Following exhaustive inquiries by the Greymouth police, five women’s coats .valued at £su. were recovered yesterday afternoon. The property was stolen from an island window at the premises of C. Smith, Ltd., drapers, Mawhera Quay, some time between 8 o’clock on Sunday night and 8 o’clock yesterday morning. Only one woman’s suit and some handbags were in the window when the theft was discovered yesterday morning. The glass was smashed in order to get at the goods. The police were continuing their inquiries last night, and_an_early arrest is expected. Man Injured By Train Now Identified The young man who was taken to the Grey Hospital soon after one o’clock yesterday morning, after being caught in the cow-catcher of a shunting engine, has been identified as Reginald Dobbin, aged 22 years, a visitor to Greymouth, who was boarding at a Greymouth hotel. His home address is not known. The man was found to be suffering from a fractured right arm, and also from shock. Last evening the hospital. authorities reported that his condition was satisfactory. Dobbin had a fortunate escape from more serious injuries, as the driver of the engine, Mr D. P. O’Sullivan, noticed him lying on the cow-catcher after the enigne had evidently proceeded only a short distance. The driver immediately applied the brakes. The voung man, it is thought, must have been lying across the rails, but it is not known how he came to be there.
