OVERTIME JOB IS RULED OUT BY LANCASHIRE UNION
LONDON. August 31. Aiderman Frederick Dodd, a former Mayor of Eccles, Lancashire, and a prominent trades union leader for 3'J years, has been expelled from the Trafford Park branch of the Iron and Steel Trades Confederation for advising fellow workmen to proceed with an urgent order after the local branch of the union had decided not to do so because overtime was involved. The branch decided that Aiderman Dodd had organised another gang to do the job, and had so overridden the authority of the union. Aiderman Dodd said he was convinced, in view of the Government’s appeal for more production, that urgent export jobs of this nature should be completed without undue delay. The matter is to be brought before the national executive committee of the Iron and Steel Trades Federation The branch union secretary, who supported Aiderman Dodd, has also been asked to resign his position.
