SYDNEY, August 30. A strange and unexplained classified advertisement appeared in the In Memoriam section of • the Ballarat “Courier” this week.’lt read:— “Wallace—ln memory of William Wallace, executed at the Elms, Smithfield, August 23, 1305. ‘To Edward, King of England, I cannot be a traitor. I owe him no allegiance. He is not my sovereign.’ ” Ballaret must harbour a loyal Scot with a long memory.
