Limit on Royal Tour Functions
WELLINGTON, Aug.. 31. Notice to ask the Prime Minister (Mr P. Fraser) whether the Government would arrange that at various centres opportunity be given to recipients of honours bestowed by His Majesty and of Jubilee and Coronation Medals to meet Their Majesties during their visit to New Zealand was given by, Mr C. M. Bowden (Nat., Karori) |n the House of Representatives. If so, could an early announcement be made of the nature of such a function. Mr Fraser said the question was obviously one he could not answer. The itinerary and programme of the Royal tour had already been- discussed at Buckingham Palace. He would be prepared to make representations on any reasonable requests, but that was all he could do. Consideration must be given to the duration of the tour and to the need for rest periods. There was a limit to what even the most accommodating monarch could undertake, and he hoped consideration would be given to that fact when requests were made for functions to be held during the tour.
