LEAGUE FOOTBALL MARIST OLD TIMERS’ MATCH WILL BE BIG ATTRACION
The appearance of so many former noted players or the Marist club, ana former Vvest Coast, South Island and New Zealand representatives at Victoria Park this afternoon When Old Timers of the Club play the present senior team —and promise to defeat them in addition —shotua make the event an outstanding memory of the Silver Jubilee celebrations. All the tricks they used in their days, plus the many they have since picked up as keen followers of the game, or as officials, will no doubt be employed by the Old Timers, against whom will be pitted c.ne of the youngest senior sides that Marist have put in the field in their 25 years as a League Club. Th match 4s to be preceded by a procession leaving the Marist School at 1 p.m. Each decade of players will march in separate units, and there will be a number of highly attractive floats, with not a few novelties.
TO-MORROW'S GAMES The rather drawn out competition for the Knock-out Cup will be brought a stage nearer completion to-morrow when the %emi-final between Runanga and Hokitika will be played at Wingham Park. The winners are to meet Ngahere, who had a surprise win over Blackball, for the final, and to-mor-row’s game is certain to be keenly contested with the odds favouring Runanga. , f The first Challenge Shield game oi the season will be played between Ngahere (the holders) and Cobden at Ngahere, and interest will be taken in the replay of the Blackball-Br tinner senior reserve knock-out, which is set down for decision at Blackball.
