REEFTON NOTES

[Our own Correspondent] The walls and ceiling of the home of Mr and Mrs Andrew Hardie, The Terrace, Reefton, were slightly damaged by fire yesterday morning. Reefton Fire Brigade prevented a spread of the flames. “ Only 3.46 inches of rain were recorded in Reefton on ten days in August. The heaviest fall was' 90 points on August 25. For the same period last year, the fall was 50 per cent., greater than this year. The Food for Britain Campaign in August resulted in a colelction of £4O Is with some amounts outstanding. Pupils of ’the Reefton High School contributed £2 18s 6d and the Coal Owners’ Association £5 ss.
