Mr Kim Williams arrived yesterday from Timaru.
Mr J. W. Coffey returned to Ashburton yesterday. Mrs J. P. Mathews returned from Auckland yesterday. The Rev. Brother Eric arrived yesterday from Christchurch. The Rev. Father V. Flaherty arrived from Christchurch by yesterday’s express. Detective-Sergeant N. Thompso.n, returned from the North Island yesterday. The funeral of Mrs Jane Richardson took place privately at the Karoro Cemetery yesterday. The Rev. T. G. Campbell conducted the services. Dr I. Leith, of Runanga, who leaves shortly for Temuka, was farewelled by members of the Greymouth divi-, sion of the St John Ambulance on Wednesday night. A presentation was made by the Superintendent, Mr A. A. Meiklejohn.
Mr D. C. Aubrey ha|s been appointed a member of the New Zealand wool Board, as a Government representative, states last night’s Gazette. —P.A.

The Hon Mr Justice J. D. Hutchison has been appointed a member of the First Division of the Court of Appeal as from September 6, in place of £he Hon. Sir David Stanley Smith, who recently resigned from the bench, states a notice published in last night’s Gazette. —P.A.
Following Requiem Mass at St Patrick’s Church, the funeral of Mr Thomas Francis Donovan took place at Karoro cemetery yesterday. The Rev. Father J. Daly and the Rt. Rev. Monsignor J. Long officiated at the services. A guard of honour was formed by the Hibernian Society and the Greymouth Borough Council’s staff was represented.
