REEFTON NOTES
[Our own Corresponaentl REEFTON, September 1. A drop of 5,157 tons of coal was recorded at Reefton for the fourweeks ended August 26. The total output was 9,007 tons, compared with 14,164 for the same period last year. The total last week was 3,063 tons, the highest in one week for three months. Following a visit by Mr. H. Gladstone Hill, a vice-president of the Wellington Boys’ Institute Band, Messrs A. Topp, C. A. Belcher, R. Haldane, P. Salmon, E. Middleton and C. Lawn were appointed to make arrangements for the forthcoming tour of the Band. Mesdames E. Clarke (Wellington), and J. W. Patterson (Runanga). are visiting relatives in Reefton. Waiuta rainfall for August on 16 days, with the maximum fall of 59 inches on August 4, totalled 3.55 inches. Total rainy days for 1948, have been 123 and the total rainfall, 39.45 inches.
