HOCKEY N.Z. WOMEN’S TOURNEY NEARS THE FINALS
P.A. DUNEDIN, Sept. 1 Section play in the women’s nockej tournament at Dunedin was completed this afternoon. The semi-final foi the K Cup will be played to-morrow between • canterbury A and Otago,— which secured the most points in iL section, next to the unbeaten Australian team —and the winner will meet Wellington on Friday in the final. in tne Minor section for the Mills Cup, the section winners were Can-teroury-Malvern, Eastern and South otago A. Canterbury-Malvern drew a bye in the semi-final, so the nnalist will be decided between Eastern* ana South Otago A, who will play to-mor-row. The three section winners were unbeaten in their four matches. A trial match to enable the selectors to choose a New Zealand team, which will play Australia in a test on Saturday, will be played to-morrow. The selectors will also watch the semi-final game between Canterbury A and Otago. It is expected that the xsew Zealand team win be announced on Friday night. Section C. —South Otago A 8 points, Otago 6, Nelson 4, Tuapeka 2, South Canterbury 0. ‘ Maintaining its unbeaten record in the tournament, Australia accounted for Canterbury B by 13 goals to nil. The Canterbury team gave the tourists some anxious moments, and several times made plucky attempts to score. The Canterbury goalkeeper, P. Blackler, made many magnificent saves. The Australian scorers were: C. Ash (5), M. Campbell (4), J. Wynne (2), L. Johnson and M. Weaver. Results of the fifth round games were:—
