CONSTABLE DIES OF CANCER: BRAUND PATIENT

CHRISTCHURCH, August 31. Temporary Constable George Edward Jones, one of the New Zealanders who went to Sydney earlier this year to receive treatment for cancer from Mi' J. Braund, died at Oamaru on Saturday, aged 38. Constable Jones was stationed at Christchurch for about three years until he was transferred to Auckland less than a year ago. Learning of Mr Braund’s claims of success in curing cancer, a group of Auckland policemen decided in March to make an effort to send Constable Jones to Sydney. A Dominion-wide appeal was sponsored, and there was an immediate response. Ap offer by an Auckland citizen, that he was prepared to advance £350 immediately, was accepted, and Constable Jones left for Sydney on April 11.
