Announced by Board Of Royal Schools t ■ ’ ! P.A. WELLINGTON, August 31. I The Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music has announced a new scheme of scholarships for music students. It is to come into effect in 1949. The Board’s object is not only to enable promising students to secure specialised training, but equally to encourage them to return to their , country or origin on the completion , of the course. In New Zealand, two such scholar- ■ ships will be available annually, on r the recommendation of the Board; examiners. Each scholarship will be j of the value of £2OO sterling per an- I num, for three years’ study at one of i the Royal Schools in London. ( In addition the Board will provide ; the student with a passage back to I New Zealand at the end of the course, ! Similar scholarships are being offe-- j ed in Canada, the West Indies, Cey- , lon, Malaya, India, Pakistan, and Kenya. The conditions for Australia and South Africa are still under consideration. .
