Team Disqualified

The Buller hockey representative team has been disqualified for the Quatre Bras competition by the Canterbury Association for playing T. Eggleton in the game agamgt West Coast on July 31 when that player had not fulfilled his residential qualification of six weeks in the Buller district. Eggleton was granted permission to play for Buller against the Australians by the New Zealand Association, but the qualification rule was adhered to in connection with other representatives games. The West Coast team will now play off with other teams in Canterbury and South Canterbury for the Cup. The qualification period is felt to be ridiculous by Buller hockey officials, especially whhn it concerns players who are definitely resident in any district. In any case Buller would not have oeen at full strength for the Christchurch matches on Saturday as at least three of their most prominent players were unavailable, but the team will be at its best for the Nordern Cup fixture against. Nelson at Nelson, on September 11.
