NO PERSON IS JOBLESS IN GREYMOUTH

The labour position in Greymouth is such that no person is jobless, and 197 positions are vacant for men and women There is a big demand for skilled male labour, in the mines, sawmills and the engineering and building trades. Figures issued yesterday by the Department of Labour and Employment disclose that for last month there were a total of 115 vacancies for males, against 98 in July. Of these 59 were for skilled labour —17 in sawmills, 12 in coal mines, six in quartz mines, five in the engineering, and 14 in the building trades—4l in unskilled trades, and 15 juveniles. on In the same period there were 82 vacancies for females, against 80 in July. Of these nine were for skilled trades, 28 for unskilled, and 45 juveniles. Four of the skilled women were wanted for hotels and. five in hospitals as cooks. Mental hospitals required 23, and nurses wanted for public hospitals totalled 27.
