BRITISH COLONIES NOT FOR U.N.O.
LONDON, Aug. 29. Britain, at a special United Nations colonial committee meeting at Geneva on September 2 will continue to oppose any suggestion that the Unit ed Nations has any right of contrpl or supervision over the British Colonial Empire. ~ , An official statement said that onR specific obligations which the colonial powers had undertaken towards t United Nations was to send information regarding economic, social ema educational conditions in- the tenitories for which thev are responsible. Certain United Nations 'delegations had since tried to carry the Umteu Natcns xAsscmbly towards tine establishment of supervision over cclon.al administration. • The Colonial Office statement concluded: “Not only is there no warrant for intervention in the Utmou Nations charter, but the colomai neople themselves would resent the interposition between the coLome.' and the mother country of an mrernational political assembly wnch bears no direct responsibility for t.ie outcome of its decisions.”
