CATHOLICS PRAY FOR OTHER CHURCHES
AMSTERDAM, August 29. Every Roman Catholic Church in Holland celebrated a special Mass for the World Council of Churches on the order of Cardinal de Jong, Archbishop of Utrecht, although the Catholic Church refused to participate in the Council. The Archbishop said the Roman Catholic Church could not carelessly ignore the “great,' sincere desire for unity,” out of which the World Council had been born. State Invasion Of Human Rights THE HAGUE, August 29. Dr. J. Hutchinson Cockburn. Director of the World Council of Churches’ Department of Reconstruction, appealed to the Council to start a long-term plan to check the inroads of the State upon human rights, “which, if anti-Christian, - are the most dangerous Colossus of the day ar>l will reduce mankind to servile obedience and rob him of all rights and privileges.”
