GREY MINERS’ CENTRAL COMMITTEE ELECTION RESULTS

■ The results of the ballots held on August 14 for the election of President, Secretary and National Delegate of the Grey District Miners’ Central Committee are announced by the Returning Officer, Mr. R. Clark, of Blackball. The successful candidates were:— President, Mr. F. Baxendale (Runanga); Secretary, Mr. W. Purdy (Dobson), National Delegate, Mr. W. Purdy. The total number of votes cast in the Presidential election was 1,184, including 18 informal votes (of which 11 were recorded in the Runanga State miners’ ballot). Following are the details of the voting:— PRESIDENT.

Totals 602 260 298 Mr. Baxendale having a majority over the combined votes of the other candidates, no second ballot was required and he w’as declared elected.

There were 58 informal votes, 33 of which were recorded in the Runanga State miners’ ballot. Having a majority of 220, Mr. Purdy was declared elected.

There were 50 informal votes, of which 27 were recorded in the Runanga State miners’ ballot. Mr. Purdy, with a majority of 124, was declared elected.
